Waddlers weady for Wiver Wace

The 16th annual Wacky Waddlers' Wiver Wace is June 15 at Lampe Park. The sale of the wacky waddler rubber ducks benefits the Carson Valley Community Food Closet. The food closet provides supplemental food to qualified Douglas County residents in need.

The 1,200 wacky waddlers are available for sale to businesses, organizations and community members. Ray Sidney of Big George Ventures donated the ducks that will be wearing fireman's helmets this year. The ducks are dumped into the slough at Lampe Park and float to the finish line.

Businesses can purchase $50 tax-deductible business ducks to compete for the Perpetual Duck Trophy. Individual ducks are $5. Prizes for Wacky Wiver Wace are to be announced.

To purchase ducks or for information in participating, contact event chairman Gil Goode at 885-2613. Ducks also available at the Carson Valley Community Food Closet, 1244 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville, 1-4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Friday. Information, Director Eileen Boettiger, 782-3711.

Tickets are sold at Scolari's Market, Pat Cardinal at ReMax Realty, 1320 Highway 395, Gardnerville, at the Minden Street Fair on June 7-8 and at the Carson Valley Days Parade on June 14.
