Wacky Waddlers Wace today for food closet

Staff Reports

The 16th annual Wacky Waddlers' Wiver Wace today features a gaggle of rubber ducks racing down the slough at Lampe Park. The sale of the wacky waddler rubber ducks benefits the Carson Valley Community Food Closet.

The 1,200 wacky waddlers donated by Big George Ventures are wearing fireman's hats this year. Each duck is numbered to match drawing tickets. Prizes for the race include a $100 gas gift card, two rounds of golf at the Carson Valley Golf Course, gymnastics classes at Tumbleweeds, Bouquet & Bouquet gift certificate, two jackets from Sharkey's Casino, Ironwood Cinema tickets and cash prizes.

Businesses can purchase $50 tax-deductible business ducks to compete for the Perpetual Duck Trophy. Individual ducks are $5 and are available up until the time of the race at 2 p.m. today or until they are sold out.

Event chairman is Gil Goode, 885-2613.
