'Big Mama's' car show is Saturday

The sun seems to be here to stay, and one event this weekend will likely be fun for everyone, both the young and old.

The Douglas County Senior Center hosts its Sixth Annual Big Mama's Show & Shine Car Show, Saturday at the Lampe Park Pavilion in Gardnerville.

Check-in is 8-10 a.m. "Show & Shine" is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Awards presentation is at 3 p.m. There will be music by "Time Warp," food, vendors and lots of classic vehicles. An all-day raffle of prizes provided by area businesses will be included in the day.

The event will feature class ranges from pre-1948 to 1979 stock or modified cars and pre-1965 to 1979 stock or modified trucks. There will also be sports cars, special interests, street rods and "under constructions" (no tow-ins).

Those interested in registering their vehicles, can stop by the senior center at 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville. The registration fee is $50. Day of the show registration will be accepted.

This year there will be a swap meet of old and used car and truck parts only. The booth space is 10-feet by 10-feet and costs $25. Registration forms are available at the senior center.

A craft and vendor fair will be at the event. Registration forms are available at the senior center or can be mailed. The booth space is 10-feet by 10-feet and costs $30.

For further information on the car show, swap meet and craft/vendor fair, contact Linda Kyriakopoulos at the Douglas County Senior Center, 783-6455.

All proceeds from this fundraiser will go toward the Douglas County Meals On Wheels Program.
