Six marijuana plants standing less than a foot tall, and a half-ounce of processed marijuana were found at a residence on the 170 block of Chimney Rock Drive in Stateline, according to South Shore's drug enforcement agency.
Two people were given misdemeanors on suspicion of possessing marijuana after the Friday raid around 10 a.m. by authorities armed with a search warrant, said Chris Elliott, commander of SLEDNET.
In addition to the six premature plants, officers found six stalks of what is believed to have belonged to mature plants, Elliott said.
SLEDNET was contacted by Douglas County Sheriff's Department regarding the Chimney Rock house.
Deputies, Elliott said, spotted growing lights, heard a ventilation system and saw marijuana hanging to dry when they were called to the house on a domestic violence call on Jan. 22 but had to leave for an urgent call, Elliott said.
On their way to the domestic violence call, two Douglas County sheriff's deputies were flagged down by a man stating he called 911 because he saw a man grab a woman by the neck.
When they reached the residence, the couple stated they were arguing about the amount of alcohol they consumed, one of the deputies stated in a report.
Running a warrant check, it was discovered the 21-year-old man had a warrant for not appearing in court for a traffic ticket.
While at the jail, the man became combative, damaging a chair and attempting to attack a deputy but was thwarted by being pushed in the chest, the report stated.
