Talent competition accepting applications

The Carson Valley Kiwanis Club announces that the eighth annual Stars of Tomorrow Talent Competition will be held on April 22 at the CVIC Hall in Minden. This contest is open to students in grades nine through 12 in the Carson Valley, Carson City, Lake Tahoe, Smith Valley, Dayton and Fallon, including home schoolers. The $1,000 Gene Zimmerman Memorial Scholarship is the first prize; the second prize is a $500 scholarship.


The competition is open to soloists, duets, trios and quartets in vocal or instrumental music, dance, drama and other performing arts. Participants will be judged on technique, difficulty, staging and presentation.


Applications and contest rules are available from performing arts instructors, at school administrative offices or from Ann Delahay (1662 Highway 395, Suite 110, in Minden). The application deadline is April 3. Auditions will be held at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church at 5:30 p.m. on April 5. All participants must attend a dress rehearsal on April 21.
