Coleville girls fall from 1st



The Coleville Lady Wolves fell out of first place Saturday, dropping a 59-45 contest to Pyramid Lake.


Coleville turned the ball over 34 times and lost the battle on the defensive glass in a very physical game.


Amara Rowley led the Wolves with 17 points, eight rebounds, six assists and six steals.


Jesslyn Sturdivant contributed 12 points and Dani Peters had eight points. Breezy Rupp and Jolene Sam each had eight rebounds.


Coleville did manage a 45-19 victory over Gerlach Friday. Rowley and Sturdivant each had 12 points and Peters added eight.


Rupp and Sam each scored six points in the win.


Coleville opened the week with a 55-24 win over Excel Christian. Rowley had 12 points while Sturdivant, Rupp and Kimberly Torley each added eight.


Kimberly Curti played a solid all-around game with four points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals.




BOYS


Coleville has assured itself a spot in the playoffs, but the team it will be facing has yet to be determined.


Depending on what happens in tonights game against Smith Valley, Coleville with either face Wells or Owyhee in the first round of the playoffs.


The Wolves picked three wins over the last week, getting 26 points from Jacob Erickson and 16 points from Jed Chessani in a 64-34 win over Gerlach.


Chessani hit two clutch free throws on the road against Pyramid Lake with two seconds left on the clock to deliver a 48-46 win over Virginia City.


Chessani finished with 12 points and Erickson added 27.


The Wolves took on 2A Hawthorne's junior varsity team Tuesday and took advantage of a stellar defensive effort to coast to a 39-19 win.


Erickson had 26 points to account for most of the Wolves' scoring. Coleville held Hawthorne to just six points in the first half.
