Genoans approved a new job description Tuesday for their town manager that makes it very clear that Candy Dance is a major part of the job but decided to forego actually hiring a manager. Town board members approved an interlocal agreement with Douglas County to provide management services for $45,000 a year, far less than the town would have paid a new manager. However, the agreement says the town has to spend some of that money to bring its secretarial help up to full time.
Douglas County commissioners start their marathon two-day meeting this morning at 9 a.m. First up this morning after the usual is Don Bently's and James Usher's multiple requests master plan amendments and zone changes all over the Valley. After lunch, commissioners will tackle a master plan change request by Julian Larrouy and Sybil Dunagan so they rebuild the Valley Bar.
Today and Thursday will continue to be mostly sunny, according to the National Weather Service. The high temperature to day is expected to hit 52 degrees with it getting even warmer, up to 54 degrees on Thursday. However, Friday will see it start to tear up and by Friday night, the Weather Service is betting it will start to cry, with a 70 percent chance of rain. It's 14 degrees in Genoa at 7:30 a.m.
According to a special weather statement issued early this morning, winter will return on Friday with multiple storms. The first storm is due Friday evening bringing the possibility of several inches of snow at Lake level. The National Weather Service suggests folks with travel plans taking them over the Sierra on Friday afternoon leave early.
