The R-C Morning Report

The Record-Courier Political Climate Office is predicting a 70 percent chance of rancor in Minden this afternoon at the Douglas County commissioners meeting. Scattered rancor will start in the early afternoon with the proposal to have larger aircraft seek permission to land at the Minden-Tahoe Airport. Heavy rancor is expected over the $24.7 million north county redevelopment deal with a development consortium to build 30,000 square feet of retail space. To offer a comparison, The R-C center is 14,000 square feet and the Crescent V Center is 40,000 square feet.

The National Weather Service is sticking to its guns that a storm is coming on Friday night. A special weather statement issued this morning says multiple storms are due to begin hitting Friday night and continuing to come in Saturday and Sunday. It looks like it will be rain in the Valleys, but the weather service is warning travelers across the Sierra to leave early on Friday to get where they're going. It is presently 13 degrees in Genoa. The high temperature today is predicted to be 54.

Utility work along Highway 395 between Johnson Lane and Stephanie Way is expected to continue through Friday. We've heard there's no sign up showing the decreased speed to 55 mph. They are working on a traffic signal at Highway 395 and Stephanie. Slow down a bit through there anyway to show respect for Bridget Chambers, whose death in 2005 sparked the call for a light.
