Art Peltier


1945-2006


A funeral mass is 10 a.m. today at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Carson City for Art Peltier, 61, who died Aug. 14, 2006.


Mr. Peltier was born May 30, 1945, in Detroit, Mich., to Howard and Rose Peltier. He attended community college in Binghamton, N.Y., and received his bachelor of science degree from the University of N. M. in Albuquerque. He went on to receive his master's degree from Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz. He married Pat Wheeler on Aug. 30, 1969, in Susquehanna, Pa. They moved to Carson City in 2001 from Harrisburg, Pa. Mr. Peltier was vice president of engineering at PolyPhaser in Minden from April 2001 to the present.


Mr. Peltier was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineering. He was also a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. He coached soccer and was a registered soccer referee. He was also a junior achievement mentor. Mr. Peltier enjoyed studying astronomy, biking, skiing, swimming and playing his guitar. He also enjoyed traveling, studying foreign languages, spending time with his children and grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Peltier, who died in 1986. He is survived by his wife Pat of Carson City; son and daughter-in-law Bryant and Ania of Dayton, Ohio; two daughters, Michelle C. of Carson City and Jeni of Whitsett, N.C.; two sisters, Susan Brougher and husband James of Tucker, Ga., and Ellie Peltier of New Port Beach, Calif.; two grandsons, Brendan and Collin Boyle of Carson City.


Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City. The viewing was Thursday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
