Learn computers with help from library class
Carson City Library's Reference Librarian Susan Antipa offers an introduction on using a Web browser, "A Primer on Searching the World Wide Web," at 7 p.m., the first Tuesday of each month, in the library auditorium. The class is recommended for novice Web users; however, e-mail and chat rooms are not covered.
In addition, Carson City Library Volunteer Michael Slattery will provide free one-hour computer training sessions, between noon and 2 p.m., on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning in September. These one-on-one sessions will cover the World Wide Web or Microsoft Word, per the student's request. Sign-ups are required. Call 887-2244 regarding either of these available computer-learning resources.
Driver-training class for teens begins Saturday
Western Nevada Community College continues its Driver-Training Program with another four-day, 30-hour non-credit course that meets the training requirements to obtain a Nevada driver's license.
The classes will meet from 8:30-4 p.m. on Saturdays, Aug. 27, Sept. 10, 17 and 24. They are open to anyone age 15 and over.
The class combines lectures, class discussion, guest speakers, films and an all-new computerized driving simulator to cover Nevada driving regulations, basic vehicle control, and driving maneuvers in various environments and situations.
The course is supported by the Nevada Public Agency Insurance Pool, the Public Agency Compensation Trust, and State Farm Insurance.
The fee for the class is $95.

Class teaches music and movement for children
Kindermusik, a music and movement class for children through age 7, begins Monday at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada and continues for the next 15 weeks.
Kindermusik is an internationally acclaimed program that promotes the development of the whole child through musical activities.
Singing, moving to music, playing instruments, listening games, pretend play and literature are all incorporated into the classroom experience.
Music from around the world is introduced as well as many musical styles, from jazz to classical.

Western music, poetry performance free at fair
The Nevada Rangeland Resources Commission will sponsor a free, hour-long traditional western music and range poetry performance featuring singer/songwriter "Texas" Tom Weatherby and cowboy poet Dennis Golden at 6 p.m. on Friday.
The performance will be held in the DocBar Lounge in the Livestock Events Center . Discount tickets to the State Fair are available at Northern Nevada Scolari's Food and Drug Stores and Sak 'N Save while supplies last.
Tickets at the gates are $7 for adults, seniors (over 65), and children 10 and under are free. Call (775) 688-5767.
