Obituary Mark Dana Grant Sr.

Mark Dana Grant Sr., 51, a Gardnerville resident for the past two years, died March 11, 2002, in Gardnerville.

Mr. Grant was born Aug. 17, 1950, in Hayward, Calif., to Albert W. and Maxine Grant-Loorz.

He enjoyed music and sports. In his early years, and until an accident left him paralyzed in 1979, he loved his motorcycles and long rides with friends. Despite the accident, survivors said he lived a full life.

He attended San Leandro High School in 1969 and graduated from Chabot College in 1988 where he earned awards as the outstanding club member of the Able Disable Club and for his outstanding service to disabled students in 1987.

Prior to living in Gardnerville he lived in South Lake Tahoe for 10 years and before that grew up in the East Bay area.

He was a member of the Operating Engineers for 39 years until he was disabled.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1988 and an uncle Kenneth Rohrs in 2001.

He is survived by his mother Maxine Grant-Loorz and step-father Don; sisters and brothers-in laws Saundra and Eric Hansen of Gardnerville, Marsue and Dennis Lemon of Manteca, Calif.; aunts Delores Rohrs of Lincoln, Calif. and Patricia Christensen and uncle John of Canyon Lake, Calif.; a son, Mark Jr. and daughter-in-law Melissa of Dublin, Calif.; a daughter Jennifer Grant of Fremont, Calif.; nieces Stacy Peters of Ripon, Calif., Dulcina Hansen of San Francisco and Candace and Amanda Hansen of Gardnerville; nephews Nicholas and Micah Lemon and many other relatives.

No services will be held at his request. A scattering of his ashes will take place at a later date.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
