Obituary: Michael James Ellis Jr.

A memorial service for Michael James Ellis Jr., 21, of Dayton will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at 500 Sam Clemens Ave. at Station 3 in Mark Twain.

A viewing will be from 4-8 p.m. today at FitzHenry's Funeral Home.

Mr. Ellis died June 8, 2003, in a drowning accident at Lake Lahontan. He was born Nov. 30, 1981, in Panorama City, Calif., to Michael and Brenda Ellis. He moved to Dayton with his family in 1988 and attended schools there.

He married Louisa Grant-Ellis in January 2003. Their first child, a son, is expected in August.

Mr. Ellis was very active in the volunteer fire departments in Storey and Lyon counties. He was a member for two years of Station 3 in Six Mile Canyon. He enjoyed fishing with his father and grandfather, going to Lake Lahontan, camping, swimming, working on cars and just being outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather James Ellis; and aunt Sheila Perkins.

Among his survivors are his wife, parents and sister Theresa Ellis, all of Dayton; grandparents Thomas and Grace Chaney and grandmother Wanda Ellis, all of Carson City; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mike Ellis Memorial Fund, Bank of America, Account No. 0049-6594-1475.
