No one was injured in a Ruhenstroth barn fire extinguished by East Fork firefighters on Sunday morning.

The fire at 1928 Pinto Circle was first reported by neighbors around 6:10 a.m. Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies were first on scene and were able to confirm the correct address for the blaze, East Fork Chief Alan Ernst said on Sunday.

“East Fork Fire units arrived within eight minutes of dispatch and reported a fully involved structure threatening several other structures,” Ernst said.

The fire went to a second alarm and additional resources responded.

“Crews initiated an aggressive fire attack and were able to quickly contain the fire to the building of origin with minimal damage to a garage next to the main house and an RV on the other side of the burned structure.”

Four engines and water tenders responded to the fire, in addition to two ambulances and two squads.

Tahoe Douglas, Carson City and Central Lyon firefighters were called on in the fire. By 8 a.m. units were being released. The fire was declared overhauled by 8:35 a.m.

Tahoe Douglas and Carson units covered calls in East Fork while the fire was extinguished. Central Lyon was cancelled prior to arrival, Ernst said.

The cause of the fire, which destroyed the barn and caused minor damage to surrounding structures, is under investigation.
