Genoa, Nev. — The second red flag warning of the season is in effect 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. today for low humidity and gusty winds which can increase fire spread quickly.
Around 200 Douglas High School seniors graduated in a ceremony at the school on Thursday night, marking the end of the 2024-25 school year.
Not only did Nevada Pony Express Re-Riders make up more than two hours in Carson Valley on Thursday, but the rider appears to be running a half-hour ahead of schedule at 5:30 a.m. as they cross Fourmile Flat east of Fallon.
The Carson Valley Days Carnival and vendors are open 4-11 p.m. today with musical acts the Lost Reverends performing 6-8 p.m. and Carson Chandler performing 9-11 p.m.
Just a reminder that glass bottles and cans are prohibited on any street or area accessible to the public in the Town of Gardnerville under county code from 5 p.m. today to 5 a.m. Saturday. Restaurants and bars can uses glasses until 9 p.m. on the premises.
The annual Carson Valley Days Parade starts at 9 a.m. and will close Highway 395 between Buckeye Road and Waterloo Lane along with the side streets. The state indicates the road will be closed 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Main Street Gardnerville is hosting its annual 5K before the parade on Saturday, starting at 8 a.m. as part of the ‘We Run This Town’ series. Registration is 7 a.m. at Heritage Park. Visit runsignup.com/Race/NV/Gardnerville/CVDaysClassic to sign up.
The forecast for today is for sunny skies and a high temperature of 84 degrees. The wind is predicted to pick up out of the southwest at 10-15 mph, gusting to 30 mph.
