A man is being held without bail after he led deputies on a chase from Highway 88 to Long Valley late Wednesday night exceeding the speed limit by more than 40 mph at times.

Jason Glen Morgan, 46, appeared in East Fork Justice Court on Friday morning.

East Fork Justice of the Peace Laurie Trotter set his bail on the eluding charge at $40,000 bondable or $6,000 cash, he also has a probation violation on a diversion out of district court and was on supervision out of justice court, rendering the bail amounts moot.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy spotted a vehicle doing 75 mph southbound on 88 north of Kimmerling Road.

When the deputy activated his lights, a Dodge Avenger accelerated to 110 mph, according to the Sheriff’s Report.

The deputy reported having trouble keeping up with the Avenger when it slowed down and turned onto Dressler Lane and then north over the dirt portion before arriving at Tillman Lane.

He turned onto Patricia running around 80 mph in the 25 mph zone, according to the report.

The pursuit turned left onto Long Valley Road, with the Dodge’s driver blowing through four stop signs along the way.

A pursuing deputy was able to get close enough to the vehicle to deploy a grappler near James Road and brought the pursuit to a halt.

The driver, later identified as Morgan, was ordered out of the vehicle at gunpoint. He wasn’t under the influence of alcohol, but a blood sample was taken to see if there was anything else.

Prosecutor Kallie Nelson said Friday that Morgan has a lengthy criminal history with felony arrests for assault with a deadly weapon. She didn’t have dispositions for those cases.

He is scheduled to return to court on Wednesday with his attorney Mary Brown.
