Genoa, Nev. — Fire Adapted Nevada and East Fork Fire Protection District are hosting a community wildfire safety meeting 6 p.m. today at the Genoa Town Hall. Folks interested in having their property assessed for fire danger in the vicinity of Nevada’s oldest settlement are encouraged to participate.
Planning commissioners recommended a master plan amendment for Clear Creek Tahoe 7-0 that reduces the final phase from 19 to 6. Final approval requires a nod from county commissioners. The project still requires 384 development rights, according to the developer’s representative.
Three appeals for VHR fines go before the Vacation Home Rentals Advisory Board 1 p.m. today including a $5,000 fine for allegedly operating a VHR without a permit, a $2,500 fine where the owner told the fire inspector he was having a monitored fire and CO system installed but didn’t. The third $1,000 fine is for renters having too many cars.
Nearly a fifth of Douglas County’s roads are in serious or failed condition, according to a report being heard at the Carson Area Metropolitan Planning Organization meeting 4:30 p.m. today in the board room of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.
More than half Douglas County roads surveyed are in good or satisfactory shape, according to the report. The county is hosting a roads workshop 1:30 p.m. April 30 for commissioners.
