Carson High hosts Northern Region track Friday, Saturday

Carson High School is hosting the two-day Northern Nevada regional track and field championships Friday and Saturday. 

The first event Friday will begin at 2 p.m. with the girls 4x800 meter relay and the girls pole vault.

The final event scheduled for Friday is tentatively set for 8:05 p.m. for the boys 4x100 meter relays. 

Saturday, regional competition will begin at 9 a.m with the girls 3,200-meter run and all the remaining field events.

In order to qualify for state in Class 5A and 3A, athletes much finish top four in their respective event. 

In Class 2A and 1A, competitors need a top three finish in order to qualify for state. Two additional state qualifiers will be chosen from every event, but those will be selected based on times regardless of region. 

The state track and field championships will also be hosted by Carson High School the following weekend – May 17 and 18.
