Youth wrestlers claim regional championships

Carson Valley Wildcat wrestling and the Douglas County Grapplers had a number of noteworthy results from the SWA regional wrestling tournament in Fallon in early March.

For the Wildcats, Josie Thomsen took first place in the 6u 48-52-pound weight class. Michael Grant was fifth.

Maizy Thomsen was third overall in the 12u 113-to-124-pound class.

JJ Bilotta took fourth in the middle school 106-pound bracket.

Jakob Fair was third in the middle school 114-pound bracket.

For the Douglas County Grapplers, Owen Johnson won his 6u 45-47-pound weight class.

Shane VanZant was third in the 6u 48-52-pound bracket.

Tucker Robasciotti finished in second place in the 8u 62-pound bracket.

Ari Klein won the silver medal in the 12u 82-89-pound classification and second in the 92-pound class.

River Klein won the girls middle school 100-109-pound class.

Jada Fessler and Gavin Cruz were first and second in their respective brackets.

Jesse Reiner took second place in the middle school 165-pound division.

Jake Colato (middle school, 114 pounds), Gizmo Pierce (middle school, 119 pounds) and Jack Hindman (middle school, 130 pounds) were all fourth in their brackets.
