Genoa, Nev. — A second school board race developed on Wednesday when Doug Englekirk filed for re-election to his Lake Tahoe seat. A third joined the table for Linda Gilkerson’s seat on Tuesday when Antoinette Denise Casselberry filed.


Four candidates have filed for three seats on the East Fork Swimming Pool District Board and on the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District Board. Three people have filed for two seats on the Indian Hills General Improvement District Board.


As of 5 p.m. Wednesday, there still isn’t a race for Douglas County Board of Commissioners. Filing closes 5 p.m. Friday and the table will be set for the 2024 election. See govotedouglas.com for more information.


A high wind warning continues for Lake Tahoe and the Carson Range above Carson Valley today. Forecasters said Kirkwood had a 181 mph wind gust. Expect 40-50 mph gusts and waves of up to 5 feet at Lake Tahoe.


It won’t be quite as windy in Carson Valley, for a change. The forecast today calls for 15-20 mph northeast winds gusting to 35 mph until midnight.
