Genoa, Nev. — An 85-unit project located in the northeast corner of the Gardnerville Ranchos was denied by county commissioners 3-2 on Thursday. Buckeye Farms proposal in Minden was approved 4-1 by county commissioners on Thursday.


A lifted blue pickup whose driver drove up to 100 mph through stop lights, and both school zones in Gardnerville and Minden on his way to California was last seen turning up Pioneer Trail in South Lake Tahoe after being pursued into California by Douglas deputies. I bet the Sheriff’s Office wouldn’t mind receiving tips on the driver’s identity or any photos of the pickup.


Topaz Ranch Estates residents received a letter from the county over the weekend that a March 18 hearing has been set for a petition asking the county to take action regarding the district.

Tickets for tonight’s performance by Dirty Cello in the CVIC Hall are sold out, according to the Carson Valley Arts Council. Quarteto Nuevo is performing April 5.


The Douglas County Chapter of the national A Girl and A Gun will be hosting their annual community “Meet and Greet” 5:30-8 p.m. today at the Tahoe-Douglas Elks Lodge, 1227 Kimmerling Road, Gardnerville.


The Snowshoe Thompson Expedition turns south from Highway 50 this morning crossing Luther Pass and into Alpine County. They’re supposed to stop at Thompson’s Diamond Valley homestead before continuing to Sheridan.


The forecast calls for sunny skies and a high temperature near 49 degrees today. The breeze is out of the west at 5 mph shifting north in the afternoon.
