Two homes damaged in Ranchos structure fire

Two homes on Long Valley Road in the Gardnerville Ranchos were damaged in a fire 4:45 p.m. Friday.

An attic fire that spread to a second house could have been a lot worse on Friday afternoon.

East Fork firefighters and Douglas County deputies responded to a fire on Long Valley Road in the Gardnerville Ranchos at around 4:45 p.m.

Multiple callers reported smoke pouring from the roof of the homes.

Long Valley Road was closed at Jane and Ann ways.

Firefighters were able to go on the offensive in fighting the blaze by 5:01 p.m. and reported knockdown by 5:10 p.m.

Surrounding agencies from Carson City, Tahoe-Douglas, Mono County and further away responded to Carson Valley to help fight the fire or cover other stations.

East Fork contacted the American Red Cross for one of the occupants for one of the homes. No cause for the fire was revealed.
