To celebrate the Silver State’s abundance of beauty and recreational opportunities, the Nevada Division of State Parks will waive visitor entrance fees to all 27 state parks during Free Adventure Day on Saturday.

All other park fees, including camping, boating, and group use areas, still apply. Parks that currently require day-use reservations will operate on a first come, first served basis. To help preserve the natural environment and beauty of all state parks, visitors are encouraged to adhere to “Leave No Trace” principles.

“This special event provides an excellent opportunity for residents and tourists alike to explore the diverse landscapes and outdoor activities that Nevada’s state parks have to offer” (parks.nv.gov/about/public-notices).

Through July 7, visitors to state parks are invited to submit entries into the “Snapshots of Nevada State Parks Photo Contest.”

Hosted by the state’s reservation technology provider, Tyler Technologies, this contest offers an opportunity for park visitors to showcase the unique beauty of Nevada’s landscapes.

The photo contest is open to legal residents of the United States age 18 and older who have visited a Nevada State Park. Entrants may submit one photograph in each of the following categories: Desert Vistas, Mountain Majesty, Stamp & Snap Adventures, State Park Thrills, and The Wild Card. Additional category guidelines, descriptions, and rules can be found at parks.nv.gov/about/public-notices.

Winners will be announced in late August. Prizes include All-Access Annual Permits to state parks and outdoor gear.
