Sikes named new Elks district leader

Brad Sikes of Minden-Douglas Elks Lodge No. 2670 was installed as the new leader of the North District of the Nevada State Elks Association at the meeting of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 144th Grand Lodge Convention on July 6-10 in Anaheim.

Some of the Elks' national accomplishments in the last year were making charitable contributions of more than $200 million to support scholarships and educational grants, drug awareness and education programs, aid to veterans, youth athletics.

Elks state associations also contributed to projects for cancer treatment and research and domestic violence shelters.

As the Elks national representative for the area, Sikes will be responsible to fulfill the order's commitment to promote charity and patriotism in the community. In the position of District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler, Sikes' duties include advising the lodges on business matters, reviewing national policies and the supervision of Elks' activities.
