Genoa, Nev. — The total assessed value for all the property in Douglas County increased 43 percent to $4.54 billion in the last decade, members of the Board of Equalization were told on Wednesday. Median home prices during 2023 actually decreased a smidge to $645,000.

The Board upheld the Assessor’s estimate of Carson Valley Plaza of $42 million. The owner sought a $10 million discount to $31.2 million citing the 23 percent vacancy rate.

Production of a brochure that explains the Genoa Historic District Commission’s guidelines is up for discussion 4:30 p.m. in the Genoa Town Hall.

A 90-minute public meeting for an ongoing cultural corridor project is planned for 6 p.m. Thursday at the CVIC Hall in Minden, which is located at 1604 Esmeralda Ave., suite 101. Go to www.eventbrite.com/e/carson-valley-3d-community-meeting-tickets-817198281057?aff=oddtdtcreator to RSVP.

After the week’s storms, the Carson River Basin is up to 88 percent of median, just short of the green. That other 2 points might be at Carson Pass, which hasn’t turned in a reading since Washington’s Birthday. Forestdale Creek, 338 feet down and a little to the east is up to 103 percent this morning.

The storm tap has shut off until possibly early next week and the roads are all clear without any controls. The forecast calls for sunny skies and a high temperature near 53 degrees with the wind out of the west at 5 degrees.
