Genoa, Nev. — Douglas County commissioners were impressed enough with Minden-Tahoe Airport management hopeful Rod Hightower to instruct county staff to negotiate a contract that would have him helping with operating the airport.

Genoans aren’t the only ones dancing this weekend. The Washoe Tribe and Inter-Tribal Council of California are hosting the Washoe Mountain Gathering at Grovers Hot Springs in Markleeville on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday is also Creek Day in Alpine County. Volunteers should meet at Turtle Rock Park at 8:30 a.m. Dress for work, including closed-toe shoes, and bring refillable water bottles.

The final weekend for ‘Love, Loss, and What I Wore” is tonight through Sunday. Visit carsonvalleycommunitytheatre.org for times and tickets.

An atmospheric river is forecast to hit the coast of Northern California and Southern Oregon that could bring a chance of showers to Western Nevada by Monday. It looks like most of the storm will pass north of us, but it’s been a strange weather year.

It’s chilly out this morning, with Minden-Tahoe Airport indicating 28 degrees. Jeff Garvin reports 32 degrees from Fredericksburg and it’s 38 degrees in Genoa.

Today the forecast calls for sunny skies with a high of 71 degrees, and the wind out of the north at 5-10 mph this afternoon. We could see only slightly warmer lows on Saturday.
