Interstate 580 was lit up like a Christmas tree this morning as authorities pursued the driver of a white Chevrolet with California plates at around 90 mph.

The man turned south on Highway 395 charging through Indian Hills with Douglas and Carson City deputies and Nevada State Police troopers following close behind.

A spike strip set up near Cradlebaugh Bridge appeared to have helped slow the pursuit, which hit 95 mph at it’s high point around 5:40 a.m.

The Chevrolet started slowing to the point where deputies were able to knock him off the road with a patrol vehicle. The chase stopped just south of Johnson Lane where the driver was taken into custody.

East Fork medics were called to treat the man for a minor head injury.

No other injuries were reported as a result of the collision.

Traffic was light this morning due to the Nevada Day holiday.
