Residents participate in scarecrow decorating contest

In what might be deemed a straw poll, some of the roughly 160 scarecrows built at the East Fork Gallery’s Scarecrow Festival will be on display at their new homes.

Around 15 residents of Gardnerville, Minden and someone living in Verdi have indicated they want to participate in the contest.

“We know they are all great scarecrows, so the builders ask you to please drive by and judge their displays,” said organizers.

Judges are asked to email eastforkartists@gmail.com with their pick of address by Oct. 25.

The Record-Courier will announce the winner before Halloween.

Anyone who participated in building scarecrows are invited to stop by the Gallery at 1512 Hwy 395, Suite 4, Gardnerville, for a free gift.  Call 775-782-7629 for more info.
