Genoa, Nev. — The Douglas High School Home Coming celebration kicks off with a parade 5:30 p.m. today through downtown Minden with events in Minden Park.

An 80-unit, 80-acre subdivision between Saratoga Springs and the North Valley Wastewater Treatment Plant pond was recommended for approval by planning commissioners on Tuesday.

There was a lot of opposition from Saratoga residents who I’m sure will bring that to county commissioners when they hear the request for the planned unit development and tentative subdivision map.

A lot near where Pinenut Creek meets the Allerman Canal that ends up with a lot of water on it when the creek rises, may be the first acquisition as part of the county’s drainage plan for that area. From County Engineer Jeremy Hutchings comments on Tuesday, the basin at the top of the drainage might be a dam sight expensive.

Debate at Tuesday’s school board meeting may have centered on Joey Gilbert’s bills for legal services. There was a double billing that will result in a $15,000 refund to the district.

The director of Lake’s Crossing Center for Mentally Disordered Offenders will be issued an order to explain why a woman who has been found not competent to aid in her own defense hasn’t been admitted after more than a month.

It’s going to be a cold six hours in Minden around 2-8 a.m. Thursday. My tomatoes are still outside, and I may give them up. I had a good crop, but to each thing its season.

Today the forecast calls for sunny skies and a high temperature around 60 degrees. The wind will likely be light, so it should be a nice fall day.
