Douglas County School District best in the state

For the third consecutive year, Douglas County School District has been recognized as the best in the Silver State, according to Niche.

Niche, a network connecting students and families to the best colleges and schools, ranks nearly 100,000 schools and districts yearly based on statistics and millions of opinions from students and parents.

With 5,383 students in grades Pre-K and K-12 and student to teacher ratio of 16-1, Douglas was ranked number one out of 17 districts in Nevada, second for best teachers, and sixth for best athletes.

“The teachers are amazing and do care for the students they teach,” said a review under Douglas County School District’s grades. “Each and every year they ask students on how they can improve and what classes and/or extracurriculars they would like to see come onto the school for years to come. The community is great, and I overall had a good experience.”

According to Niche, Douglas County School District has an average 89 percent graduation rate, 51 percent reading proficient and 36 percent proficient in math. Those numbers reflect scores from ACT college entrance exams every junior is required to take but not required to pass in order to graduate. 

The grades are calculated from various sources of public data sets and millions of reviews including real reviews and survey responses from students, parents and residents, and public data resources including the Department of Education, U.S. Census, and FBI.
