Tiger soccer players earn all-league nod

Both Douglas High School soccer teams had members of the 2023 squads on the all-league teams announced last week.

On the girls side, Douglas had two members of its team earn postseason recognition.

Taking home second team honors at forward was senior Aleeah Weaver, who had earned first team honors last season.

Weaver was credited with 11 goals and five assists, per MaxPreps, in 16 games played.

Weaver will graduate having made the all-league team three times, including a second team selection as a sophomore.

The only other Tiger girls player to get an all-league honor was Morgan Davis, who was selected as an honorable mention in the midfield.

Davis, a sophomore, had two goals and four assists this season.


Tiger boys have four make all-region honors

Douglas High boys soccer put four on the Class 5A North Sierra League all-league teams.

At forward, sophomore Diego Diaz earned a first team selection as did his teammate Francisco Gallegos, who got the nod in the midfield.

On the second team was senior defender Alex Vargas.

Rounding out the Tigers’ all-league selections was honorable mention Ivan Ecueda-Bernales, who finished his senior year with a selection on defense.
