A hearing for an 85-unit project at the northeast corner of Main River and Dresslerville roads has been delayed for a second time.

The item was scheduled to be heard at Tuesday’s planning commission agenda, but the county announced it was delaying the discussion of the tentative subdivision map and zoning map amendment for the 33.2-acre parcel due to a noticing error.

The item will be continued to the Dec. 12 meeting, according to the county.

Developers Keith Serpa and Sam Landis are seeking a zone change to 12,000 square foot minimum net parcel sizes.

Remaining on planning commissioners’ plate on the meeting before Thanksgiving is a request for a permit to expand Under the Magic Pine Tree.

The planning commission meets 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Douglas County Courthouse in Minden.

The longtime Ranchos daycare plans to build a 2,560-square-foot building and is seeking a variance on the number of parking spaces from 23 to 18.

The property is located at 927 Mitch Drive and has been a day care since 1976.

The additional building will allow the facility to accomdate 84 children between the two buildings. According to a letter from R.O. Anderson Engineering, the present building is licensed to accommodate up to 44 children.

“The need for additional childcare facilities is a problem in many communities in Nevada,” according to Cristine McNally of the Nevada Child Care Association.
