Genoa, Nev. — After two hours at the end of a nine-hour meeting, commissioners gave direction to look at the individual neighborhoods at Lake Tahoe regarding the Vacation Home Rental ordinance. The Stateline Microtransit received funding for another year in a 3-2 vote at Thursday’s commission meeting.

Commissioners took no action on combining East Fork and Tahoe townships after hearing a report about the difference in caseloads at the two courts. East Fork deals with about twice the number of cases that Tahoe does.

Any attempt to combine the two would have had to start on Thursday in order to be done before judicial filing in January, so it’ll be 2030 before the county could take action without affecting a sitting justice of the peace.

The Carson Valley Art Association annual scholarship show opens today and continues through Sunday at the CVIC Hall in Minden. Email cvaa.nv@gmail.com for information.

St. Gall Catholic Church and Carson Valley United Methodist Church are conducting their holiday craft fairs on Saturday. Young at Heart’s craft fair at the community & senior center is weekend after next.

Heritage Park will be busy on Saturday with the Dia de Los Muertos festival 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. sponsored by the Carson Valley Arts Council, Douglas County Community Services and Main Street Gardnerville.

We gain an hour as standard time returns 2 a.m. Sunday. As of this writing, no federal effort has been successful in eliminating the time change.

It appears the Sierra will shadow us out from precipitation this weekend with high temperatures forecast to be 72 degrees today and 73 on Saturday. The wind will pick up to 10-15 mph Saturday afternoon, gusting to 25 mph.
