Hark! The herald craft fairs are open today

With Halloween barely in the rear view mirror, Carson Valley is going from zero to Christmas starting this weekend.

On Saturday, St. Gall Catholic Church’s Holiday Boutique will get an hour head start over neighboring Carson Valley United Methodist Church’s Heavenly Holiday Faire on the Highway to Heaven, opening at 8 a.m.

Both fairs will feature Santa, who will be an increasingly busy guy over the next two months. At St. Gall, people can take pictures with the jolly old elf and their pets 3-4 p.m. The Methodists have a story time with Santa at 10:30 a.m. and a Kid’s Only Market. They’re also offering a $7 chili lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

St. Gall is located at 1343 Centerville Lane and Carson Valley United Methodist Church is at 1375 Centerville Lane. Both fairs wrap up at 4 p.m.

Santa will be back in Gardnerville Nov. 10-11 for the Young at Heart annual Holiday Craft Fair.

Touted as the biggest free indoor craft fair in Carson Valley, the fair will feature more than 100 sellers at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center in Gardnerville.

The fair opens 5-8 p.m. Nov. 10 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 11 at the center, 1329 Waterloo Lane.

Proceeds support the local soup program and other services for senior citizens in Douglas County.

Applications are open through Nov. 7 for artists and crafters to participate in the 3rd Annual Ag & Artisan Holiday Faire, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 2 at the historic Storke Dairy located at 876C Centerville Lane in Gardnerville. Food vendors must have their own health permits. The application period closes Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 5 p.m.
