Carson Valley AYSO soccer finishes 17-1

The Hornets, a Carson Valley AYSO U10 girls soccer team, capped their season with a 17-1 record.

The team competed in Foster City, California in early December and took third place.

The Hornets had to win two tournaments in order to receive an invite to the Section 2 tournament in Foster City.

Section 2 is made up of teams from Nevada, Alaska, Oregon, Washington and California.

The Hornets featured Colette Beres, Capri Jansse, Harper Jansse, Makenna Cooke, Macie Jansse, Ellie Montoya, Sophia Penneau, Mackenzie Summers, Laila Tobar and Mylee Vandiver.

Per coaches Jake Jansse and Zac Beres, approximately 32,000 kids compete in section 2 and only 600 make it to the tournament across three age groups.


Lacrosse meeting Jan. 19

Carson Valley Youth Lacrosse for boys and girls 3rd - 8th grade will hold an informational meeting for the spring season Jan. 19.

Program presentation at 6 p.m., registration available 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Douglas County Community and Senior Center - North room.
