Genoa, Nev. — For a three-day holiday weekend, Christmas was fairly quiet with a few calls on Saturday. The traffic on Friday was pretty horrible, but I didn’t hear about any collisions of note.


Alpine County recognized the efforts of State & Private Forestry Project Manager Clint Celio, Economic Development Director JT Chevallier, and Permitting and NV Environmental Project Implementer Matt Setty for their contribution in receiving the U.S. Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region 5 Forester's Award for Post-Fire Recovery and Disaster Relief in the Tamarack Fire.


According to the annual report of the judiciary, the Ninth Judicial District dealt had 1,650 nontraffic cases filed and completed 1,562 during fiscal year 2022-23 for a clearance rate of 94.6 percent. Looking over the other courts, that seems pretty close to average.


There’s a possibility of weather on Wednesday evening, but the forecast rain totals are pretty sparce. Another burst is predicted for Saturday that might see a chance of some light flurries for New Year’s Eve morning.


It’s going to be a tad overcast with the sun breaking through for lunchtime, which is why it’s hovering around freezing this morning in Minden. Today’s high is forecast to hit 54 degrees with a light 5 mph breeze out of the southeast, shifting north.
