Genoa, Nev. — School board trustees will discuss the search for a new superintendent and selecting a new member of the school board in the wake of Tony Magnotta’s resignation, among other things. The school board meets 4 p.m. at the Douglas High School Median Center.

I thought the 85-unit subdivision on the eastern boundary of the Gardnerville Ranchos was going to be the most controversial topic before planning commissioners today, but it seems like the proposal to ban vacation home rentals north of Cave Rock might give it some competition.

Planning commissioners are also discussing a special use permit and design review for a 250-unit RV campground at Reese Lane and Highway 395 near Holbrook Junction. Planning commissioners meet 1 p.m. today at the Douglas County Courthouse. Follow online at www.douglascountynv.gov

Tahoe Douglas firefighters responded to a collision between a vehicle and a deer 5:40 p.m. Monday near Zephyr Cove Lodge. No one opted for an ambulance ride, but it’s a reminder to watch for animals in the road.

Air quality appears to be getting a little better, according to the monitors around the county. The Ranchos Aspen Park monitor spent an hour last night at unhealthy for sensitive groups before dropping back down to moderate and into the good range this morning.

Registration for both the Saturday and Sunday Douglas County Ski Clubs is 6-8 p.m. today and Thursday at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center. Organizers are asking that those interested not show up early. Ski Club has been a Douglas tradition since 1961.

Looks like the next chance for precipitation will be early Sunday morning, but that’s a little shaky for this far out, though it may open the storm door a crack.

It's awful cloudy out, even thought Tthe forecast calls for sunny skies and a high temperature near 45 degrees both today and Wednesday. Lows will drop down around 20 degrees. Both days are looking at a 5 mph breeze in the afternoon. Today it will be out of the north, on Wednesday out of the east.
