Genoa, Nev. — East Fork firefighters responded to a garage fire in Ruhenstroth around 9 p.m. Tuesday night. I’m following up on it this morning.


The aerial attack on Carson Valley’s mosquito population continues today as Douglas County Mosquito Abatement sprays adulticide across 5,000 acres.


A house move in Mason Valley on Monday took five hours and took place without a hitch. Smith Valley resident John Walter sent me a picture. “It was quite the talk of the town today in Yerington,” he said on Tuesday.


The Courthouse Museum in Genoa is conducting a fundraising reception 6-8 p.m. today and will have all of the Douglas County Historic Society’s Hans Meyer-Kassel collection on display.


Cooperative Extension Horticulture Outreach Coordinator Jessica Gardner will answer questions 5:30 p.m. today at Heritage Park Gardens, 1461 Ezell St., Gardnerville.


We’re getting a little drift smoke from three fire complexes burning in far Northern California. The haze should clear out when the wind picks up this afternoon.


Otherwise, the forecast calls for sunny skies and a high near 88 degrees, with the wind out of the north at 5-10 mph.
