Genoa, Nev. — A man succumbed to a heart attack on the Clear Creek Trail on Thursday afternoon. Dispatch received a call that CPR was in progress at 3:05 p.m. Rescuers had to hike up the trail to reach him as thunder and lightning were approaching from a storm cell.

Another small fire popped up in the Slinkard Wilderness Study Area southwest of Topaz Lake. The 1-acre Bagley fire was contained before the flood advisory for heavy rain was issued on Thursday night.

Residents of Sheep Camp Road and Cortez Lane will get help from Douglas County to develop a plan to resolve their drainage issues, which could include revision of the mapping and permitting.

The new ordinance governing the Genoa Historic District Commission was approved as written by commissioners on Thursday. 

I had a chat with Historic District Vice Chairwoman Marian Vassar after the session, and her main concern was having applications go through Community Development first. The ordinance may be tested sooner than later.

Fish Springs got .47 inches of rain and Johnson Lane got .28 inches on Thursday. Remember, your precipitation may vary. I heard it rained pretty good near Whit Hall but a mile north, I haven’t seen but a few drops.

Showers are easing toward likely after 2 p.m. today with scattered thunderstorms between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Expect cloudy skies and a high near 86 with the west wind 5-10 mph.
