Genoa, Nev. — The driver of what is reportedly a stolen Toyota made a foray into Douglas on Monday night and was chased back into California around 6:30 p.m. after hitting 95 mph on Highway 50 near Elks Point.


A six-month contract with SMG Fire Consulting Group’s Scott Gorgon is up for renewal at today’s East Fork Fire Protection District’s Board meeting. Gorgon has been serving as deputy chief of operations in the district for a while. Trustees meet 1 p.m. today at 1694 County Road in Minden.


Icy conditions are being blamed for a crash 4:20 a.m. today involving a commercial vehicle in the southbound lanes of Highway 28 just north of the intersection of Highway 50.


Snow is flying at Heavenly, according to the ski resort’s cameras. There aren’t any controls of note though the roads are wet across the county after Monday’s rain.


Grover Hot Springs in Alpine County reported 1.1 inches of rain on Monday. Minden got .44 inches of rain from the storm, with gauges in Genoa and Fredericksburg reporting .41 inches.


It’s fairly warm out this morning at 42 degrees with the high forecast to only climb another 9 degrees to 51. We could see more rain before 4 p.m. today, though the skies look like they are clearing this morning.
