Genoa, Nev. — East Fork firefighters responded to a vehicle fire 7:55 p.m. Sunday near Pipe Spring off Sunrise Pass Road. The fire spread to a single tree and was threatening a trailer on the property, according to the radio.

I got word Sunday that Moose the Mastiff was adopted. It must have been his “grandpa energy.” The R-C runs a pet of the week every Saturday in an effort to give shelter animals a helping paw.

The Douglas County School District has an interactive bus route map on their web site at www.dcsd.net/student-life/bus-routes. From the visit counter, it appears to have gotten a lot of traction, so far.

As of 9 p.m. Sunday, the Maui Police Department confirmed 96 fatalities from the fires on the island. The Lahaina fire is 85 percent contained at 2,170 acres, according to www.mauicounty.gov

There’s a chance for thunderstorms between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. today. Otherwise expect partly sunny skies and a high near 90 degrees. The southwest wind this afternoon will be 5-10 mph.
