It was moving day for the Grill Next Door in the Gardnerville Ranchos on Monday. The popular restaurant is moving to the Meadowdale Center in Gardnerville.

The Grill Next Door owners Jenn and Dan Fredrickson are excited to announce the relocation of their popular restaurant to the Meadowdale Shopping Center, 1267 Main St. in Gardnerville. July 29 was the restaurant’s last day of operations in the Gardnerville Ranchos and plans for the opening the new location are scheduled for late August.

The Fredricksons first opened The Grill Next Door in 2012 on Langley Drive in the Ranchos. In 2020, they made a move to the Tillman Plaza, which enabled them to expand the restaurant’s dining space and staff while continuing to offer fresh, made-to-order dining options.

The Grill Next Door is known for their rotating weekly specials, which are posted in the restaurant and on their Facebook and Instagram pages. Jenn Fredrickson said their menu has been updated to incorporate a number of gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options. New additions include a portobello mushroom burger, gluten-free buns, and cauliflower “wings.” Lunch and dinner specials will be offered weekly and include meat, pasta, or fish-based options. Fresh pasta will be available daily.

Dan Fredrickson likes to keep menu items seasonal, and the restaurant uses locally sourced ingredients as much as possible.

“We make [each order] fresh, not fast,” Jenn said.

The new location builds upon the restaurant’s family friendly atmosphere with the addition of a full arcade, pool tables, dart boards, and classic board game selections. Future plans are to expand the space in back of the restaurant to include outdoor dining, bocce ball courts, horseshoes, and cornhole, and to offer gaming at the bar area toward the end of this year.

“We want to have a fun place…somewhere where kids and families can hang out,” said Jenn.

The Fredricksons are passionate about supporting the local community and have participated in a number of service projects throughout the years. These include creating an annual Trunk or Treat event at the restaurant, hosting blue barrels for Carson Valley Sertoma’s annual Coat Drive, taking part in the Polar Plunge to benefit the Special Olympics, and initiating a popular drive-by holiday light event that invites the community to tour festively decorated homes throughout the Ranchos. The couple intends to continue with these traditions and are already making plans expand their community outreach.

Jenn said the new restaurant is still within close proximity to the Ranchos and just about a five-minute drive from their former location. The Fredricksons are grateful to customers in the Ranchos and surrounding communities for their enthusiasm and support of their business endeavors throughout the years, and they look forward to welcoming everyone to their new space.

The Grill Next Door will be open seven days per week and offers breakfast hours on weekends. Monday-Friday hours are from 11 a.m.-8:30 p.m. (lunch and dinner), Saturday from 9 a.m.-8:30 p.m. (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), and Sunday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (breakfast and lunch only). Their phone number remains the same: 775-392-5800.
