Main Street Gardnerville will open the applications for the second round of façade grant funding on Monday.

The Façade Grant program was developed by Main Street Gardnerville in 2022 to help preserve the historic nature of Downtown Gardnerville and also provide Main Street Gardnerville businesses with a grant opportunity to assist them in maintaining their business facades by updating the exteriors of their buildings as well as updating signage. In the first round of façade grants, in conjunction with Douglas County’s Economic Vitality program, Main Street Gardnerville awarded over $14,000 in grants to six different businesses but the total public and private investment in the downtown corridor was over $35,000.

“We at Main Street Gardnerville, understand the importance and benefit this program offers to our local business community in addition to the preservation efforts of our beautiful downtown,” Program Director Jen Nalder said. “We have recently lost some of our historic structures over the years and continue to have others fall into jeopardy. It is essential to get funds and support to our business and building owners to help them make accomplish their improvement projects.”

Nalder serves as the central advocate for the downtown district; acting as liaison between the program, public and private agencies, civic groups, downtown stakeholders, and the community.

Main Street Gardnerville is a 501(c)(3) focused on the ongoing revitalization of Gardnerville, Nevada. Founded in 2008 by a group of citizens with the goal of reinvigorating downtown Gardnerville, Main Street Gardnerville is still driven by volunteers working to make their town a better place.

Main Street Gardnerville was the first community to receive the Main Street designation in Nevada and is one of 862 Main Street America nationally accredited organizations. In addition to the program’s revitalization efforts, Main Street Gardnerville also serves as an advocate for over a hundred businesses within the area.
