Minden Elementary School hosted a health fair on Oct. 7 that saw more than 230 people participate.

“Topics ranged from healthy food choices, to making mental and physical health a priority. We want the community to know which organizations and businesses were instrumental in supporting our families, in hopes that the community will support those businesses,” parent volunteer and organizer Celest McKean said.

Raffle Prizes were donated by Arco Gardnerville, Raley's, Papa Murphy's Gardnerville, Costco, UNR Rethink Your Drink, and local dentists.

The main organizers were School Counselor Ashley Goering, school Nurse Tawny Spires and Principal Crespin Esquivel.

“There was gracious involvement from the front office staff Tandy Erickson and Michelle Galliett and custodial staff Richard Hamzik and Lisa Berg,” McKean said. “Last, but not least, thank you to the teachers and parents for their support and attendance.”

Presenters included: Raley's, Valley Pediatric Dentistry, Sun Safety - Douglas County School District Nurse, Swim Saftey - Carson Valley Swim Center, Carson Valley Medical Center, Behavioral Health, Chelsea Minifie RD Dietician, Suicide Prevention Center, Backpack Buddies,

Costco, Food Closet, Family Support Council, Douglas County Center for Hope and Healing, Partnership Douglas County, Between Horses and Humans, Rural Clinic Douglas, Douglas County JPO- Parenting Classes, Douglas County Social Services, Douglas County Community Health Clinic, Douglas County Public Library, UNR Rethink Your Drink and Celeste Eckerman DDS.
