One of Carson Valley’s most popular doctors is shifting his practice back to Carson Valley Medical.

Dr. Mark Brune was voted top doctor in The R-C’s Best of Carson Valley at least four years running around the turn of the century.

He’s shifting his practice from Carson Tahoe Medical Center in Minden to Carson Valley Medical Center's clinic in Minden.

A 28-year resident of Carson Valley, Brune was the medical director of the former Carson Valley Health Center in the Stratton Center and participated in the groundbreaking for the Minden facility located off Ironwood in 1997. He moved to the new site when it was completed in 1998. The following year, he shifted south a bit to Sierra Nevada Medical Group in 1999, where he continued when Carson Tahoe Physicians Clinic took over the office.

A resident of Carson Valley since 1994, Brune attended medical school and residency at the University of Nevada, Reno, and has seen incredible change in the Minden-Gardnerville area while serving the community in a variety of emergency and medical roles.

“I was the medical director for East Fork Fire in the 1990s, back when the location of my current office was alfalfa fields,” Brune said. “It’s been a constant evolution in this valley since then, and my arrival at Carson Valley Medical Center is just a continuum of change.”

Originally a Carson Fire paramedic living in Sparks, Dr. Brune chose to settle down in the Carson Valley with his wife and kids because of the rural charm and quality of life the community offers.

“Not only did I involve myself in the medical community, but also in the community as a whole,” he said. “I was active as president for the Carson Douglas Medical Society and am proud of the work I’ve done to steer the growth of medical services in the valley.”

As a primary care doctor and internal medicine specialist, Brune said he looks for more than chronic diseases, he looks at the body as a whole and knows the specialists to refer patients to.

“Especially as we get older, a primary care doctor is very important,” he said. “A lot of people may not realize what’s going on with their body until they get professional advice.”

Brune is currently accepting patients and welcomes past patients to join him at Carson Valley Medical Center. For appointments or information, call Carson Valley Medical Center at (775) 782-1610 or visit www.cvmchospital.org.
