Electricity is estimated to be restored by 1:45 p.m. Wednesday to homes affected by an outage and small fire after a garbage truck snagged a power line.

Foothill Road was closed north of Kingsbury Grade where the line came down and set two trees on fire in front of a home at the corner with Mountain Reach Court. Foothill reopened at 1:05 p.m.

The truck hit the power line at around 11:45 a.m. East Fork firefighters and Douglas deputies responded closing the road. At one point the outage affected up to 871 homes and businesses, according to NVEnergy.com.

As soon as the line was de-energized, firefighters were able to douse the blaze and expected to have the small fire mopped up by 1 p.m. or so.

The power company was already working on a planned outage further south near Foothill Road and Dina Court, so workers were nearby when the incident occurred.

The Nevada Highway Patrol was called to the scene to inspect the truck that hit the power line.

There were no reports of injuries as a result of the incident.
