RoseBud’s Dance Band is scheduled to perform 7 p.m. Friday at the CVIC Hall in Minden.

RoseBud’s Dance Band hosts their 2022 Spring Fling at 7 p.m. Friday at the CVIC Hall, 1604 Esmeralda in Minden. This all-ages event includes live music, a no-host bar, complimentary snacks, and a raffle, and admission is free.

“Dancing is encouraged, and fun is mandatory,” said Paula Crout, one of RoseBud’s saxophone players. “We really hope people will come out and enjoy it and have a great time. Bring the family!”

The evening will showcase a variety of dance music from throughout the decades. The band performs both instrumental and vocal selections and features swing, jazz, and Big Band-era pieces along with a number of modern tunes.

As Crout said, “We like to mix it up a bit.”

An affiliate of the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra, RoseBud’s Dance Band formed several years ago and has nearly 20 members. The band practices in trumpeter Rich Sheldrew’s “Man Garage,” and the Sheldrew’s rescue burro, RoseBud, acts as audience.

“She’d always stick her head in and listen (during practice), and that’s how (the band) came up with our name,” said Crout.

More information about RoseBud’s Dance Band and the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra can be found online at carsonvalleypops.wordpress.com.

Upcoming events include the Pops playing at historic Piper’s Opera House in Virginia City on March 26, an April concert, and RoseBud’s Dance Band playing at Gadzooks during Thirsty Thursday Wine Walks starting in May.

If you’re looking to kick up your heels, head on over to the CVIC Hall on Friday night.
