Genoa, Nev. — Carson Valley graduations continue noon today with Douglas Nevada Online and ASPIRE Academy graduates at 2 p.m., both at the CVIC Hall in Minden. Created during the pandemic to accommodate students, the online school had the second largest enrollment in the district in 2020.


Deputy Community Development Director Sam Booth helmed his last two-year review of development agreements on Thursday. Booth is leaving county service after almost four years.


The American Century Golf Tournament will be playing through Minden-Tahoe Airport, which has been designated Celebrity Golf Airport of Choice. Expect higher than average charter and air taxi service July 4-11.


There are two big events this weekend, including the Carson Valley Quilt Show at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center and the Carson Valley Antique Power Show at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. The Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center is hosting bubbles on the green Saturday.


There were some dark clouds and an indication of rain in the Pine Nuts. The odds of rain showers on Sunday are slowly evaporating from the forecast, down from 40 to 30 percent.


Expect mostly sunny skies today with a high near 79 degrees and the wind out of the southwest at 5-10 mph, increasing to 10-15 mph gusting to 30 mph. It’s supposed to be a bit breezy tonight.
