Genoa, Nev. — Martin Slough Trail will be closed for an hour starting 9:30 a.m. today as Douglas County Mosquito Abatement flies its drone to spray for larvae.

Expect some roadwork in Minden as the town begins a $2.2 million pipeline replacement project today.

A tiny art show is one of the ideas being pitched by new Librarian Tim DeGhelder as part of his introduction to the community. The Douglas County Library Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet 10 a.m. today at the library, where they are scheduled to hear an update on a long-range plan prepared by the University of Nevada, Reno.

It's murky out this morning, but the air quality is ranging from moderate to unhealthy for sensitive groups. Containment on the 18,000-acre Oak Fire is 16 percent as nearly 3,000 firefighters and two dozen helicopters try to bring the blaze to heel.

It was 77 degrees when I woke up at 4:30 a.m. thanks in part to the smoke and slightly overcast conditions. The record warmest low temperature for July 26 was 63 degrees set in 1931. With places in the Valley recording 70 degrees early this morning, that record may not survive the dawn.

We might see some thunderstorms after 2 p.m. today, though over most of the summer, those have stayed clear of the Valley. Expect the high temperature to hit 94 degrees with winds out of the southwest at 5-10 mph, gusting to 20 mph.
