The fifth annual Fright at the Fairgrounds opens 3 p.m. Friday for smaller kids and 6 p.m. for the less faint of heart.

Hosted by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the haunted house will operate every Friday and Saturday night through October.

Tickets are $10 per maze at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, located off Pinenut Road in Gardnerville.

The not-so-scary portion of the maze is 3-5:30 p.m. while the full-scare version is 6-9 p.m.

The attraction is operated by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies and civilian volunteers who donate their time planning, building, decorating and operating the event.

Proceeds from the event go to assist programs operated by the Sheriff’s Office, such as the K-9 Unit.

The Sheriff’s Office thanked Home Depot, Spirit Halloween, Ahern Rentals, ACE Hardware, Walmart and Domino’s Pizza for their support.
