Three concerts return to the stage in December

Music will fill the air during the Gardnerville Christmas Kickoff, the Minden Gazebo Lighting and the Parade of Lights Dec. 2-4.

But the music won't stop there with a troika of concerts on tap for the weeks leading up to Christmas.

The Genoa Christmas Concert this year features Tahoe Truckee musician Cowboy Steve and Buddy Emmer in the Genoa Town Hall.

Doors open 6 p.m. Dec. 11 with the concert 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Tickets are $20 at Eventbrite.com. Beer, wine and water will be available at the bar.

Two days later, on Dec. 13, all the way from Fort Wayne, Ind., Tim Zimmerman and the King’s Brass will perform a Christmas concert at Carson Valley United Methodist Church.

The group performs both current Christmas hymns and classics, featuring The King's Brass’ three trumpets, three trombones, a tuba, percussion and keyboards.

Formed four decades ago in Detroit, the combo includes professional musicians from around the country.

The group plays more than 150 concerts a year. A free-will offering will be collected for the band at the door.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. at the church, 1375 Centerville Lane in Gardnerville.

David John and the Comstock Cowboys are performing for Christmas in the Sierra 7 p.m. Dec. 17 in the Grand View Dining Room of the Douglas County Community & Senior Center.

A fundraiser for the nonprofit Young at Heart Club that supports Douglas County seniors, tickets are $25 for those 13 and older and $20 for children 12 and younger. Tickets go up $5 at the door on the night of the concert. Concessions, beer and wine are available for purchase.

The center is located at 1329 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville.
